September Adventures

What a cracking line-up you have to look forward to this month!

September ‘test slot’ special – Movement in Nature walk.
With the route for Septembers main get-together decided the test walk slot was looking rather redundant so thought I’d take the opportunity and organise something a bit different for you to try!  Soo this Sunday (2nd Sept) you’ll have the chance to indulge an innovative movement in nature session!   We’ll be joined by dance and bodywork specialist – Stella Azzurra (see below) who will guide us through an explore of some of the connections between our bodies and our environment, taking time to slow down, to observe, to listen and to feel connected.  The walk will include all the usual gandering as well some other simple physical exercises – nothing too challenging don’t worry!
Stella Azzurra is a dance and bodywork practitioner whose practice investigates the body and awareness. Her work is currently focusing on evolutionary movement and the connections between body systems and earth systems. For more on Stella, check out her website:
Meeting at the same time and place as ever, 2pm in front of Truro Cathedral, back for 4pm.  Session free but booking essential – only 15 spaces going!..get yours quick!  email to book. You can also RSVP on event page on facebook.
2. the September Green Walk
Got a great one lined up for you this month!  Richard Budge – head of Parks and Gardens in Truro will be taking us on a special ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the intriguing leats systems in Truro. A fantastic chance to learn about this intricate network of water ways that run through the city centre. Find out where they came from, why they were built and how they work. One not to be missed!  As ever meeting at 2pm in front of Truro Cathedral, back for 4pm. Don’t forget sensible shoes, layers and waterproofs if needs be.  Also free! RSVP on the event page on facebook.
As ever do invite friends/family/neighbours, dogs and determined cats welcome too!

Community gardening get-together Sunday 5th August.  Start your Sunday with a glass of juice, a biccie and some relaxing gardening on the Plant your Park plot on Furniss Island. As ever there’ll be green-fingered tips to learn and calories to burn as we roll the sleeves up and get stuck into a good ‘auld gardening sesh. Join us between 10-1pm. Tools provided as ever but do bring along any of your own you’d like. Also donations of any ‘plants with a purpose’ for the boarder always welcome!! 🙂

from weeding, to planting, digging and pruning ..there’ll be stuff to busy green fingers big n small and all abilities

a strolling back the years August test walk.  Stroll back the years and green walks will be joining forces this month to give you Truros’ first ever stroll back the years green walk! This is a great opportunity to find out more about the group and discover what great free ganders they’ve got on offer!  Head Walks leader Diane will be joining us this Sunday 5th August @2pm (in front of Truro Cathedral) to reccie a route for our third Sunday get-together.  As ever the test stroll is a fantastic way to really be part of shaping what we see and do and the places we explore in green walks.  Please note though, as test walk routes have often not been done before – we can’t be sure of exactly what terraine we’ll be covering, obstacles along the way and how long we’ll be out for – may be just over the normal 2 hour slot so if you’re less steady on your feet or time may be an issue stick out for the final walk on the 19th when we’ll be able to tell you what to expect 🙂 Hope to see you this Sunday for some real exploring off the beaten-track!

come along for a gentle lunchtime gander at the Be Active festival

Green Walks @ the Be Active Festival.  As part of Truros Be Active Festival running 6-11th August we’re putting on a 30 min lunchtime special on Wednesday 8th.  This is a fantastic chance to get outdoors for some light exercise, fresh air and chat over your lunchbreak.  Part of the Healthy Workplace day – this gander will highlight just how much you can explore and what a great little workout one can enjoy over your lunch-hour!  No need to book, just turn up midday Wednesday 8th, we’ll be meeting at the Cornwall Sports Partnership tent.

August Green Walk Sunday 19th.  Truro Camera Club will be joining us this month to capture some greenery on film!  This is a great chance to find out more about the group, talk with members and glean some tips and techniques on photography along the way.  Do bring along your own camera if you have one!  Meeting 2pm in front of Truro Cathedral, back for 4pm.
