green walks gatherings through March

Reckon I’ve broken all tardy records with this months post.  Away in Sussex at the mo where time seems to have sped up about 10 fold – rather missing the slightly slower pace back in the South West..

About to head out for a day exploring the Wild Foods of the South East so will keep this a short one – (much to your relief I’m sure).
1. Mothers Day Special
Back in October a bunch of us headed out to Boscawen Park to plant daffs in dedication to our mums ..and this Sunday is the time to find out if our efforts have paid off and hopefully show off our green fingered handy work.  For those of you who didn’t make it to the bulb planting, it’s still a lovely opportunity to spend some quality time with your mum along a gentle gander.  Route-maestro Martin will be leading this walk this Sunday 10th March (Mothers Day) starting at 2pm outside Truro Cathedral.  The gander time and terrain will be tailored to you and yours mums depending on what you fancy – with optional tea stops along the way.
2. the March green walk – Spring Clean Truro
This month have linked up with a number of community groups around Truro to put on a special event as part of Clean Cornwall week 2013.  It’s chance for local residents from around Truro and from different groups to get together for an afternoons social while giving the city we share a spring clean!  We will be visiting a number of known grotspots around the city and transforming them with the help of litter grabbers and bin bags.  Many hands make light work, the more people that come along the more grotspots we can get rid of!  So do join us from 2-4.30pm on Sunday 17th March, starting at Truro Cathedral.  All equipment provided by Clean Cornwall.  Dress sensibly.  The afternoon will finish at Highertown Church where there’ll be cuppas and cake galore to reward all attendees – kindly hosted by the environmental group at Highertown Church from 4.30pm.
Do hope you can make it!  As an aside – the 17th is Paddys day – as an Irish gal meself, I’ll be marking the day by dressing in green for my own rather random litter picking paddys parading – if anyone else would like to join me by wearing something green, please do! 🙂  Also have attached the poster for this event – please forward on to friends, family and anyone else you’d like to spam.
Rightio, better get the wellies on – it’s looking like the wild foods and I will be getting a good washing out there today!
Natter soon,
Head Coordinator
